Walk or ride a bike! You did not say how long you wanted to take to get there you only asked for the cheapest way.

Walk... only costs a pair of Shoes. Clothes are optional, but I would probably make the investment because the legal fees associated with going without can be quite pricey.

I would look for cheap airfare on airtran or midwest and fly there.

My two home towns!! The cheapest plane ticket I've bought recently is $188. It is about 10-11 hours in a car, depending on your car, you could spend probably about $90 on gas. (I'm thinking a tank and a half each way at $30 a pop) A bus would be really really long. And I imagine not even half price compared to flying. If you are up to riding with strangers, you could put an add at Craigslist for a ride
