About What would be the most economical plan for travel from Cleveland, OH to Beijing, China

What would be the most economical plan for travel from Cleveland, OH to Beijing, China?
Airport codes are CLE to PEK. And yes, that's one way.... We are two travelers and are flying back to CLE from either Bangkok (BKK) or Tokyo (NRT.) We would need to arrive in Beijing by Oct. 30th, and leave Bangkok Nov. 21st....We are exploring the idea of 2/3 days' stay in Tokyo before returning, and would like advice.

CLE to PKK to BKK to CLE is about $1640 using Northwest or United options on Kayak. You may want to buy the intra-Asia while in Asia as they are cheaper. We flew roundtrip from Seoul to Bangkok for only $85 roundtrip for something that would cost $500 in the US. You will find Thailand is very cheap.

Cathay Pacific has a flight from JFK to Beijing for $721 inc. tax if you cn get to NY from Cleveland cheaply, plus it's one of the best airlines in the world. They also have an All-Asia pass, good for 21 days travel throughout Asia for $1,399 plus tax from NY, LA or San Francisco to 23 cities in Asia, they don't include Beijing though. I'm sure you could pay for the extra flight to Beijing and still do pretty well. You should check it out. Have fun. https://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/homepage?CX_FCN=CXHOME0_CountryChange http://www.cathayusa.com/offers/AllAsiaPass/offer.asp
